Follow up

Well, finding out that they are sick makes the whining just a little more bearable, because I know that they have not suddenly turned crazy on me.

Suddenly my sympathy kicks in, and I can be all, "Awwww, you're not feeling well, you poor thing," almost every time.

We left the kids with some new friends (i.e. strangers to them until five minutes previously) today, while we went to meet with some people.  As we encouraged them to be polite and listen really well, Kid A made this astute observation.

"I'm really good and listen to other people who watch me.  I---I don't know why I don't always listen to you." Sound familiar, anybody?  We don't know either, bud.  If you figure it out, let us know. (They were excellent while at the new friends' house, by the way.)

Awwww, poor babies! Dontcha hate it when you assume they're at their worst and really they just don't feel well? Motherhood is the most humbling job I've ever had...by far.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

I can totally relate! I remember my mom telling us that she was at least glad we were good for the other people.

Hope the kiddos feel better soon.

Said bye to Renee yesterday.... Miss you all!

Just wanted to drop a line and express my thanks for this blog...and for the links in your sidebar. I've been introduced to some really inspirational people via Journey Mama...and while I don't often comment...you should know that you've inspired me time and again with your beautiful pieces, as do your friends. When I read about these happy, natural women, it makes me feel like I'm a part of some kind of "mothering community". And it urges me to be more in my life: happier, more joyful, more grateful.

Anyway, just wanted to share that. Hope your children are feeling better today!

Wow, i just lapsed like a month on your blog,
you're life is so adventurous and exciting!
and yet sounds so farmiliar to my existence in canada here.... i'm heading to victoria in three days for a week and a half, just missed you girl!

I totally know what the whining does to the psyche and spiritual essence of calmness....!!!

Oh Goddess, so when do you go to india? or are you there already? I'm so happy for you to reach for your dreams and be the nomadic warrioress that you are!

there is a really amazing website you may like about a family that has traveled from argentina to alaska with their kids.... without flying... and through rivers....it's called Sparkyourdream.com or .net or .ca i don't remember.. but you'll like it i'm sure and there is a book that goes with the journey ...it so reminded me of your family though i only know the darlins by virtual awareness...
Loving your blog and lots of respect to ya!
and i want to live on a (biofuel) boat with my honey one day too.... imagine only another ten or twenty years when the nest will be empty, almost sounds scary and exciting at the same time to imagine life without my young children every waking moment, the attachment grows stronger every day as they seem to break away into thier independence. Your kids look and sound out of this realm!
