No you didn't.

We are sitting at an internet place, since our home internet once again is not working.  I'm looking at the photos that I posted of Solo, and Chinua looks over my shoulder and says, "Aww, cute."

I say, "Yeah, I only wish I had remembered to wash his face."

And Chinua says, "As if you ever wash any of their faces." (Not really joking.)

I say:  (!) (!!!)

There are no words.

I grew up with two brothers and a sister, all of us playing outside in the dirt... I'm sure my mother shared your amazement at just how constant the washings would be needed to even look fresh occaisionally. ;) mark

Clean enough to be healthy...messy enough to be happy, my Friend. That's my motto & I'm stickin' to it! It applies to kids, cars, houses, desks. Of course I'll never win mother/homemaker of the year prizes, but eh...you can tell from my motto that I don't particularly care what others think anyway. :) The pics of Solo were precious btw- did he even have a dirty face? I was too mezmerized by his adorableness to even notice.

Ooooh. Ouch. Only a father...only a father...I've gotten this too, in many forms...totally offhanded, unintentionally harsh stab to the heart remarks...I say only a father, but if they are totally unintentional, I suppose I must say stuff like this too.

I have the same problem, I never notice dirty faces until I take a cute photo of the kids! I think I have just developed a visual block for such things.

Face looks clean enough to me.

I quit washing faces after child #3, it just took too much effort. Children #4 and #5 learned to wash thier own faces. And dads can wash faces too!

I never notice the smudges until I see someone else looking at them. I think you have a different kind of vision when it comes to your loved ones. I see the sparkle in the eyes and the sweetness in the face. Wouldn't it be nice if we had the same kind of vision when it came to people we didn't care for as much?
