Those long evenings
March 10, 2008
Did anyone else get dinner ready really late because they were halfway into a project at what felt like the middle of the afternoon, only to look up and see that it was 5:30 already, yikes!?
Me too.
Now comes my favorite part of the year. I love to be up when the sun is up, and I think I'm a pioneer farmer at heart. When it's dark, it feels like time to sleep. But these long evenings that will keep getting longer, they are perfect, especially if you are sitting on a porch with friends or beside a river while the sun slants across the water.
Springing forward like this keeps me up with my husband a little longer, too, since he is more like a raccoon or an opossum at heart. Nocturnal.

Yes on the late dinner. I made pasta salad, which is to spring and summer what soup is to fall and winter.
I love the weather now too! i feel the same way....I sort of trudge through the dark gray winters, but once it starts to get bright and sunny, a new me appears. Enjoy the weather! Enjoy the brighter days!
I find it difficult at best to think of your Superstar husband as a raccoon or opossum! And dinner last night??? I like to take Sunday evening off and I tell the kids they will have to forage for food if they are hungry! I find it a much needed break from the routine of the evening dinners.
