Food

If you heard the explosions in my house earlier, don't worry.  Nothing was being detonated, that's just the sound of eggplants when they're roasting on the gas stove and they pop. I know!  I was a little scared, too, before I realized what it was.

I made a little song in my head today.  It went like this: "Don't put too much salt in the food, don't put too much salt in the food..... don't put too much salt in the food..." and you get the picture.

It worked, and a little Leafy Boy followed me into the kitchen after he'd cleaned his plate of food to tell me, "You're such a good cooker, Mama."

"Awww," I said.  "Did you like it?"

"It was delicious."

Gosh, charmer, get to a woman's heart, why don't you?

What a sweetheart! I overdo garlic powder. I didn't realize I was doing it until a year ago when we arrived at the babysitter's house to pick up our kids after a date night... I could smell the dinner I'd packed for them as soon as we stepped through the front door. Mortifying!

Nothing like a son's praise eh? It just touches your heart in such a way. Give Leafy a hug from me, okay?

Exploding eggplant eh? How do you cook them. Sounds interesting....

It is truly amazing what a few words of praise does for your soul. If those words come from your child, they go straight to your heart.
